Inspiration

A Commemorative map to mark the centenary of Captain Falcon Scott’s last expedition in 1912.  Detailing all the dates and journey of the Terra Nova Expedition. Featured in the Daily Telegraph, cartography online and displayed at Admiralty House for the visit of Princess Ann to mark the centenary, and also exhibited at Plymouth museum as part of the Scott Exhibition.

Research included film footage produced by Herbet Ponting in his film,‘The Great White Silence.’ It was the first time an expedition had been filmed. Edward Wilson’s great nephew, Dr David M. Wilson, who is a noted polar historian and has written and edited many books on the expedition, advised on certain aspects of Antartica. ‘Edward Wilson’s Antarctic Notebooks,’ were used for reference.
